Life Skills Instructional Assistants

Reedsport School District has two openings for half-time Life Skills Instructional Assistants.  Successful candidates will demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, motivation to follow case manager instructions, and flexibility in daily assigned work schedule.  Successful candidates will function as a member of a collaborative team, contribute to a warm and welcoming classroom climate, and display a compassionate approach to working with special needs students.  Starting hourly wage range: $13.01 – $14.94 depending on education and experience.

Office Manager - Highland Elementary School
The Reedsport School District is hiring an Office Manager for Highland Elementary School.  The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the building principal and be responsible for managing the operation of the school office.  The Office Manager will perform a variety of clerical and secretarial work that requires good problem-solving skills, independent decision-making, and the ability to support students, families, and staff in a supportive and confidential manner.  The position starts on August 1, 2017 and the annual work schedule includes 36 to 40 hours per week through the month of June.  Hourly rate range for the 2017-2018 school year is $14.96 to $17.17 per hour depending on experience.  A complete job description is available at the District Office.

Instructional Assistant for ESY (Extended School Year)

The Reedsport School District is hiring for an Instructional Assistant for ESY (Extended School Year). Successful applicant(s) will assist in providing Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) services to qualified students across the month of July. Duties include instruction of small groups of students during the morning. Instruction is based on the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals, and students will be grouped accordingly. Outcomes are centered on mitigating serious regression and prolonged recoupment time as a result of the long summer break. Students will be primarily of elementary age, and suggested lesson plans and activities will be provided by Special Education case managers– instructional activities that will reinforce skills and abilities already taught during the school year. One instructional assistant is currently sought, based on the number of students projected to participate in this year’s program. The program will run from July 5-July 27, 2017 (4 weeks; Wednesday & Thursday, 9:30-12:30, a total of 8 sessions). Compensation will be at the employee’s 2017-2018 hourly rate of $13.01-$14.94 DOE. Summer School Instructional Assistant-RCCS 
Reedsport Community Charter School has an instructional assistant opening for the Summer School session.  Under teacher supervision, the successful candidate will work with individuals and small student groups in a classroom setting to support academic and social success goals.

Elementary Classroom Teachers, 1.0 FTE,
Highland Elementary School is hiring Full Time, Elementary Classroom Teachers for the 2017-18 School Year. Successful candidates will have knowledge of Current Concepts, methods and procedures of curriculum development and implantation, Laws, rules, procedures, policies, and trends regarding instruction, Evaluation techniques, Performance based education, Human development and learning, Communication techniques, Current health and safety procedures and practices, and Effective instructional strategies and techniques. Successful candidates should have the ability to Develop appropriate curriculum, Interpret and comply with laws, rules and policies, Evaluate student needs and progress, Implement accepted principles of instruction, Maintain acceptable student behavior and discipline, and Communicate effectively. Qualified applicants must have an Oregon Teaching Certificate valid for assignment, be NCLB Highly Qualified, and have knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction, familiarity with Common Core State Standards, and Experience with multi-age planning and instruction. ESOL, GLAD, SIOP preferred.
Salary Range: $36,223 -$63,390 DOE with Benefit Package.

PE Teacher-0.5 FTE-RCCS
Reedsport School District will hire a half time P.E. Teacher at Reedsport Community Charter School for the 2017/18 school year.
Job Description: Responsibilities will include but are not limited to; teaching knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and related movement through planned individual, dual and team activities. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter that is aligned with Oregon Content Standards for Physical Education - Expressive and Efficient Moving, Fitness for Lifetime, and Self-Management and Social Behavior common curriculum goals. In collaboration with district policy and school rules, establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in physical education activities at all times. Perform other duties, as needed, as requested by the building administrator. Qualified applicants must possess a Valid Oregon Teaching License with an endorsement in Physical Education. Position open until filled.

Varsity Girls Head Basketball Coach
 Reedsport School District is seeking qualified coach applicants with the following qualifications: 
  • Plan and execute practices and meets
  • Supervise student athletes to, at and from events
  • Communicate with school personnel, student athletes and parents
  • Maintain equipment and inventory
  • Monitor safety of all participants and follow safety protocols
  • Develop player fundamentals
  • Oversee assistant coaches
  • Increase athletic participation in the program
  • Coordinate with the athletic director and others for facility usage
  • Improve competitiveness
  • Knowledge of the sport
